Starting this little blog to keep a record of the different film stocks I try. What I like, what I don’t like. Things I have experimented with. I am going to keep this blog 100% film. I shot this set of photos with my Nikon f100 35mm slr. I wanted to try out the Kodak Ultra Max 400 that you can find at most local drug stores. Although not super cheap $7.50 at Bartells drug store. Its easily accessible. I rated these at iso 200 and used a 50 1.4 shot mostly at f2 or f1.8 all overexposed a little. I like the poppy colors and saturation of this film, although it doesn’t handle overexposed highlights quite as well as the Fuji 400h does. The first photo below the highlights are pretty blown on the base of the palm tree. But look at those yummy greens ! These were processed and scanned at Panda Photo Lab. I will be trying out more labs and putting down the results on this blog as well.
these are great, i am trying some ultramax right now. It has been pretty gloomy where we are so i have been mainly shooting at box speed but i might try to do a third stop just to get get some more of those highlights. Great post, i look forward to more. I am posting film stuff over on my blog, i also just started. You should come take a glance! more photography specific things in the future. Cheers!
